Peptide Testing Lab
HPLC purity, identity and assay testing for peptide ingredients and finished products, from our ISO 17025 accredited labs in Irvine and San Diego.
Peptide testing confirms that a peptide ingredient or product is what its label says: identity against a reference standard, purity by HPLC, the amount present (assay), amino acid composition, and safety tests such as heavy metals and microbial limits. Qalitex tests peptides used in dietary supplements, functional foods and cosmetics.
Peptide ingredients are expensive, easy to substitute and hard to verify by eye, which makes an independent lab result the only reliable proof of what is in the container. Qalitex Laboratories tests collagen peptides, bioactive and cosmetic peptides, and finished products that contain them, so brands can confirm identity, purity and content before a batch is released or listed.
HPLC peptide purity and identity
High-performance liquid chromatography separates a peptide from related substances and degradation products. Purity is reported as the main peak’s share of the total, and identity is confirmed against a reference standard by retention time. The same run supports a quantitative assay, so you learn how much peptide is actually present, not just whether it is there.
Amino acid analysis for peptides
Hydrolysing a peptide and profiling its amino acids by HPLC confirms that the composition matches the expected sequence ratios, and it exposes cheap amino acids added to inflate protein or peptide claims. For collagen peptides we add hydroxyproline-based methods that separate true collagen from other nitrogen sources.
Safety testing for peptide products
A peptide can be pure and still fail on safety. We run heavy metals by ICP-MS (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury), microbial limits under USP <61>/<62>, and residual solvents under USP <467>, and report everything on one signed Certificate of Analysis.
Choosing a peptide testing lab
Ask whether the lab is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited for the methods you need, whether identity is confirmed against a reference standard rather than assumed from a single peak, and whether the report states purity, assay and method on a signed CoA. Qalitex answers yes to each, and you can talk directly to the chemist running your samples.

What does peptide testing include?
Typically identity against a reference standard, purity by HPLC, a quantitative assay, amino acid analysis, and safety tests such as heavy metals and microbial limits. We agree the panel with you based on the product and what the result is for: release, a retailer, or a marketplace listing.
How is peptide purity measured?
By HPLC. The peptide is separated from related substances and degradation products, and purity is reported as the main peak’s percentage of the total peak area. Identity is confirmed by matching the retention time to a reference standard.
Can you test collagen peptides?
Yes. We quantify collagen peptides with hydroxyproline-based methods and amino acid profiling, which distinguish true collagen from other protein and nitrogen sources used to inflate claims.
How long does peptide testing take?
Most panels are reported in 48–72 hours from sample receipt. Methods that need a reference standard you supply, or method development for an unusual peptide, take longer; we confirm timing with your quote.
